Michizane Sugawara wrote the following poem: “At this time, I have not even taken up a stick of paper, but a brocade of autumn leaves, as if by God’s will.
I remember it because the word “manimani” is somehow nice. I remembered the word “manimani” because I thought it sounded nice.I

looked it up and found that “manimani” means “as it is,” “together with,” and “leaving it to its own motion.
I found that “manimani” means “as it is,” “together with,” and “as it moves.

Rhapsody” is an extremely free and unrestrained instrumental piece that does not have a fixed form, but is composed of several folk or epic musical ideas arranged one after the other. Kyoshi” are poems that comically depict the vulgar aspects of human beings and society, which became popular from the mid-Edo period onward.

How will each of us walk, live, and create our future in this time of chaos in world and social affairs? The answer to this question may not be immediate.

However, I believe that the path we take, while searching for the answer, will surely lead us to a world of abundance and joy of life.

Now, there is the original landscape that is engraved on our bodies, which we are not conscious of.
It is a sanctuary filled with the richness of life that continues to exist with us.
I would like to dance as a modern “butoh version” while making it sure step by step.

菅原道真が詠んだ歌に「このたびは　幣も取りあへず　紅葉の錦　神のまにまに」
という歌があります。「まにまに」の語感がなんとなく良くて覚えていました。
調べてみると「まにまに」には「～のままに」「～とともに」「～その動きに任せるさま」などという
意味があります。

また「狂詩曲（＝ラプソディー）」は、一定の形式をもたず、いくつかの民族的または叙事的な楽想をつぎつぎに配列した、きわめて自由で奔放華麗な器楽曲のこと。「狂詩」は、江戸中期以降に流行した、人間や社会の卑俗な面を滑稽に詠じる詩。

世界情勢、社会情勢が混迷を極める今、私たち一人一人がどのように歩み、生き、未来を創造するのか。この問いの答えはすぐには出ないのかもしれません。
しかし、模索しながらもあらゆる可能性に開かれ委ね、歩んでいく道のりは、必ず豊かな世界へ、生命の歓びへと繋がって行くと信じます。

さあ、そこは、意識にのぼらない私たちの体に刻まれた原風景。
そこに共に在り続ける生命の豊かさ満ちる聖域―名付けて“まにまに道中”。
一歩ずつ確かなものにしながら、現代の“舞踏版”として踊りたいと思っています。
